Peter O’Meara passed away suddenly at home in Mona Vale, NSW on 26th June 2025, aged 84.
Peter was born in Lismore, NSW in 1940. He lived in Coolangatta and went to school in Tweed Heads before the family moved to Sydney. After finishing school in Lewisham, Peter studied at the University of Sydney and spent two years in the RAAF.
Peter joined IBM in 1962 as a technical instructor. He worked in a variety of systems engineering, sales and marketing roles in Australia, New York and Hong Kong, qualifying for IBM’s Quarter Century Club on 22nd July 1988. In 1991, he joined Lexmark as President of Lexmark Asia-Pacific and subsequently worked for Lexmark in Lexington, Kentucky and Paris.
In retirement, Peter and Helen spent close to 20 years running their vineyard in the Hunter Valley before moving to Mona Vale. He is survived by his wife Helen, daughter Clare, sons Damien and Nicholas and his grandchildren Ruby, Tom and James.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held in the Palm Chapel at Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium, Cnr Delhi and Plassey Roads, North Ryde on Tuesday, 15th July 2025 at 11.15am. All are welcome to attend.
