In an article in The Age of 23 December 2025, Carolyn Webb reports on how Bill Horn, a long-time member of the IBM Alumni is helping Portsea Golf Club celebrate its centenary.
“Meet 99-year-old Bill Horn who, on his twice-weekly visits, doesn’t just have coffee and gaze out at the beautifully undulating course near the tip of the Mornington Peninsula.
The retired typewriter salesman and father of three, who turns 100 in May, is almost as old as the club itself.
Portsea will celebrate its centenary on January 1, with Horn tasked with raising a flag outside the clubhouse during commemorations.”

Happy New Year to Bill. Keep up the good work! You are an inspiration to all Alumni members.
Bill, it is great to see you enjoying life ( and golf). Long may it last! I still remember what a great help you were to me when I started at queen street!
Very best wishes
Alex McCartney.
